Lovers of darling mice and tiny, perfect doll house furniture unite! The Mouse Mansion by Karina Schaapman was made for us. This book follows the every day life of mice friends, Sam and Julia, as they go on adventures and get into mischief around the apartment building they call home. Karina Schaapman built a real "mouse mansion" dollhouse complete with tiny, mousy furniture and accessories, and each story in The Mouse Mansion is accompanied by these wonderfully intricate and heart warming pictorial vignettes.
The book is pretty lengthy, and instead of treating this as a sit down together and read the whole thing affair, I treated this more as an abbreviated chapter book where we read a section per night. We enjoyed the stories where Sam and Julia made pancakes, celebrated each other's birthdays, and helped Sam's mom change the diapers of Sam's new triplet baby siblings. It is a charming read, and the pictures are a joy!
