We just got back from another library trip with some pretty successful picks! My three year old walked up to the librarian by himself and asked for "piwate ship books", and she helped us find some really great pirate books.
How I Became a Pirate by Melinda Long and David Shannon
Jeremy Jacob is at the beach with his family. He sees a pirate ship coming closer and closer to the shore. His mom and dad are too busy taking care of his baby sister to notice the merry band of pirates that take Jeremy to their ship to learn how to be a pirate! Jeremy helps the pirates find the perfect place to bury their treasure, and they get him home just in time for soccer practice. recommended age: 3-6
Shiver Me Letters: A Pirate ABC by June Sobel and Henry Cole
There are letters hiding everywhere for this pirate captain and his crew. As they set sail to a faraway island, dig for treasure, make crew members walk the plank, and other pirate stuff, they collect all of the letters of the alphabet.recommended age: preschoolers 2-5
